THE SOULS OF THE SASSANIDAE WOMEN Acrylic and Collage on Wood

The piece is from the Fairy Tale series, and was influenced by The Tales of the Arabian Nights . It illustrates the souls of the women of the Sassanidae dynasty; the red circles represent the women the Sultan killed in revenge for his wife's infidelity. Scheherazade puts her own life at risk in order to save the women of the town. I work intuitively, not knowing where the piece will end up until it shows me the direction it wants to go. Acrylic paint on wood, with some small pieces of hand painted/printed paper collaged throughout the work. Small vintage rhinestones adorn the piece.
