España Abstracted Architecture of Spain Watercolor Ink Gilding on Paper
España is an abstracted architectural painting/drawing created with watercolor, ink and metal leaf on watercolor paper inspired by my trips to Spain. The colors, architecture, energy, and all the antennae that are on the rooftops of the buildings found their way into this piece.
I started the work with an automatic (blind) drawing in pencil, then worked into it with a wash of watercolor until the art took its shape. I then worked into it with more layers of watercolor, including metallic watercolor, and applied a few spots of metallic leaf and ink.
As with many of my art works, the painting changes color or reflects bits of light depending upon where you stand. Not only is the act of creating the image kinetic, but so is the viewing of it. It is difficult to photograph and show the bits of metallic in the piece.
It is a 5.5 x 5.5" in size, and is matted in an 8"x8" mat.
Shipped flat as a first class package with tracking between two pieces of mat-board. Shipping included in the price.
